Low-Cal Drinks to Celebrate the New Year

Whether you’re planning on ringing in the New Year at home or at the club, there’s a good chance alcohol will be part of the celebration. Some mixed drinks can pack upwards of 500 calories and 20g of sugar per serving, though, so choose wisely! Use this handy guide to decide how to best “spend” your calories this NYE:

Beer (12 oz. can) = 154 calories
Light Beer (12 oz. can) = 103 calories
Gin (1.5 oz.) = 110 calories
Rum (1.5 oz.) = 97 calories
Vodka (1.5 oz.) = 97 calories
Tequila (1.5 oz.) = 105 calories
Liquor (1.5 oz.) - 165 calories
Whiskey (1.5 oz.) = 105 calories
Wine (5 oz.) = 123 calories
Champagne (5 oz.) = 105 calories

If mixed drinks are more your thing, try swapping out tonic for soda water and adding a splash of cranberry juice or lime for flavor. Here are some good options:

Vodka Soda (97 calories)
Vodka Water (97 calories)
Gin and Tonic (161 calories) *Ask for 1/2 tonic, 1/2 soda water to save calories and add lime for more flavor!

The worst options? Margaritas, mojitos, and tropical drinks like piña coladas, Mai Tais and Long Island iced teas will cost ya big time, so it’s best to avoid them or order them “skinny” and sip sparingly.
